Product Features

The solution provides updated location once the staff alert device has been activated (and continuously tracks location until incident is resolved)

In active alert, the system continuously tracks staff locations as they move throughout the property, whether indoors or outdoors. Updates are delivered every 11 seconds, with 98.7% accuracy within a 5-meter horizontal range.

The Staff Alert device does not need to be in the proximity of a smartphone or tablet for the solution to operate.

Staff alert devices are stand alone and require no tethering. Within 12 months, users will have the ability to raise an alert using a key word without the need to press a button.

Alert acknowledgement is time and date stamped and shows which user responded to the alert. What, if any, additional information is provided in this alert acknowledgement?

Available info includes:

  1. User details (e.g., ‘Watch 1’)
  2. Incident start and end locations
  3. Responding team member
  4. Incident duration
  5. Number of updates
  6. Alert reason.
System provides an incident report log with ability to capture notes and information.

Users must submit incident details via auto-populated fields or freeform text. If escalated to 911, responders have full access to all information and notes.

Does your solution support other devices beyond wearable staff alert devices. If, yes, what other devices?

Options include smartwatches, lanyard or key reel wearables. Smartphones with dedicated alert buttons are also available. Fixed buttons and tethering options can also be provided if required.

Is indoor location on a floor plan available

Digital indoor floor maps are available in 2D or enhanced 3D. The 3D version includes directions and wayfinding. During an incident, maps can be instantly shared with 911 by the hotel. Outdoor mapping is also available.

Are the follow-up alerts configurable? What is the delivery time for your initial alert?

97% of notifications reach Level 1 contacts in under 2 seconds (100% within 5 seconds). Escalation paths ensure timely alerts to Level 2, Level 3, or 911. For resilience, alerts are sent via voice, SMS, WhatsApp, or email.

Can the sound of the alert device be turned on or off?

Audible alerts can be configured to be either on or off. Specific tones can be configured on request.

Can devices provide 2-way communications and what type do you support?

Critical and operational messaging is available in a users preferred language on each device. Messaging is currently icon and text based with voice due for launch in 2025.

Can systems monitor staff outside the hotel, such as shuttle drivers, and how?

The system can locate staff both indoors and outdoors. Remote buildings can be covered for indoor locating using existing or new BLE while outdoor locating is done via GPS.

Can the system detect man-down situations versus a dropped device?

This is currently in Alpha development/testing with an expected launch in the next 12 months.

Does the solution provide multiple types of connectivity options (WIFI, Cellular, ect)? If, so, how?

Online reports within the portal show the health status of the hardware components (wearables and beacons) and are available to the customer at all times. A further level of monitoring internal to HaloSOS enhances this monitoring.

Does the system monitor and alert management when device or equipment becomes low power or not working.

System alert provides the ability to be configured for multiple staff types and workflows.

The platform is designed to provide mission critical and operational messages that include precise location information. The content of these messages is determined by the workflow and the users.

Can the system also be leveraged for routine Security Tour reporting and Maintenance checks?

The platform is designed to provide mission critical and operational messages that include precise location information. Any workflow that uses location/time can be delivered on the platform.

The solution tracks an employee when the staff alert device is not activated. Can be disabled if required by law/union/etc.

All data is fully anonymized, including only room and device numbers, with no personal identifiers. This setup is fully configurable for each property, ensuring tailored privacy controls.

Can be configured to work with other security systems currently in place.

Our platform integrates with security systems like access control and CCTV, and is not limited to security. If an API is available, it can connect to third-party platforms such as operational systems, digital tipping, and more.

Can the system also be leveraged for Asset Tracking?

The platform is integrated with a specialist asset tracking company that specialize in large scale complex environments.

Maintenance & Support

The Staff Alert device is powered by battery and can be recharged or replaced by a hotel?

Staff alert devices are rechargeable in the same way as a cell phone or walkie talkie. Each installation is provided with a rack charging unit for efficient charging. Full charging from empty takes approximately 40 minutes and lasts 14+ hours.

Does your solution require beacons? If "Yes" How are they powered?

Beacons, if supplied by HaloSOS, are battery powered. No outlets or gateways are needed. Battery life is between 3 and 8 years. Batteries can be changed by the hotel (sub 1 minute/beacon).Existing BLE in APs from Cisco,HP, Ruckus etc may also be used.

What is your uptime?

The HaloSOS infrastructure is based on Microsoft Azure that has a 99.99% uptime SLA.

How long is warranty and support on the Staff Alert and Beacon devices?

The beacons come with a 36 month warranty while wearables and rack chargers have a 12 month warranty.

Do you provide service level agreement with penalties if it falls below 99% ?

A full SLA is provided with a guaranteed restore time.

Deployment

Can the system maintain accuracy in basements - stairwells and garages, if so how?

The device provides accurate coverage indoors and outdoors, with adjustable BLE transmission from 3 to 60 yards. Smart algorithms ensure precise locations. Data is sent via Wi-Fi/cellular, retrying if no network is found, with an optional loud alert.

Is self installation of the solution available? If so, how is it tested and validated?

Self-installation is easy with video and text guides. The process includes a 2-step validation, producing a performance report on Alerts, Location Infrastructure, and Notifications.

Does your solution operate outside North America? If "Yes", what countries/regions does the solution serve?

With offices in the US, EU and APAC and with 200+ locations through our partners, HaloSOS can deliver and support its solution anywhere via Wi-Fi or cellular 2G/3G or LTE.

What is the average installation duration for a Standard Select 100 room hotel?

Typical installation in a 100 bed property is 2 people for 8 hours on day 1 and 1 person for 60 minutes on day 2 for in person training.

Can you use the "iBeacon" protocol from other providers?

HaloSOS can use any device that broadcasts iBeacon. The system is interoperable with a vast range of standalone BLE and major Wi-Fi Access point providers including Cisco, HP and Aruba.

Is there a Mass Crisis notification module included, and how does it work?

Mass Notification is included. In a serious incident such as Active Shooter, authorized hotel staff can launch an alert that immediately locates all staff, recommends a course of action e.g “Shelter in Place” and can provide full details to 911.

Can the system be deployed in multiple property types from Select, Full-Service, Convention hotels?

The platform and technology has been deployed in all types of hotels ranging from select service modern structures to a luxury property built in the early 1800s.

Financials

Is software a Named User, Concurrent Users or Unlimited Licenses?

An unlimited number of beacons and users are included. The number of simultaneous management users access the system is 10 in the standard offering.

Does your solution require beacons? If "Yes" How are they powered?

Leverage Existing Infrastructure for Cost Savings

HaloSOS installed beacons are battery-powered and designed to last between 3 and 8 years. Additionally, by having your maintenance team replace batteries, you can eliminate the need for outside contractors.   However, If your hotel already has Cisco, HP Aruba, or Ruckus access points, you can potentially reduce initial hardware costs by using them as beacon infrastructure.

Is self installation of the solution available? If so, how is it tested and validated?

Maximize Savings with Self-Installation

For smaller properties, self-installation offers a cost-effective way to implement our infrastructure. Our remote support teams, along with detailed video and text guides, ensure a smooth and successful process.

To ensure optimal performance, we’ve designed a two-step validation process. This involves a thorough evaluation of your system’s alerts, location infrastructure, and notification capabilities, resulting in a comprehensive performance report.
